About memory retention in modes other than STOP mode

Last Updated:01/16/2018

Question:

The memory retention characteristics in STOP mode are described in the user's manuals.
Are the contents of the memory retained in a mode other than STOP mode if the voltage is within the specified retention range?

Answer:

In any mode other than STOP mode, the memory retention voltage is the same as the supply voltage for the guaranteed range for operation.
For example, the CPU transitions to STOP mode within the guaranteed voltage range for operation, and the supply voltage falls to the voltage range for memory retention and then returns to the guaranteed voltage range for operation again. And then even if STOP mode is released, the memory data retained when the CPU transitioned to STOP mode is still retained.
Note that when the CPU is reset by the LVD circuit or when an external reset is generated, the memory (RAM) data is undefined (not guaranteed).
