How to avoid error message when when debugging the RX family MCU in HWE?

Question:

The following error message is displayed when debugging the RX family MCU in the High-performance Embedded Workshop environment environment using the E1 or E20 emulator.

Flash memory writing ... NG
Because the access violation etc. to on-chip ROM area are generated, the flash rewriting cannot be executed.

Answer:

Is a program for rewriting flash memory (on-chip ROM and data flash) being executed?

If a program for rewriting flash memory is being executed, an access violation to flash memory may occur due to the conflict with processing of the emulator debugging function.

When debugging a program that rewrites flash memory, make the following settings.

  1. Open the [System] tab on the [Configuration Properties] dialogue at connection.

  2. Select the following relevant items in the [System] category.

    [Debugging the program re-writing the internal PROGRAM ROM]
    [Debugging the program re-writing the internal DATA FLASH]
